New London County Jail Roster

The New London County Jail Registry in Connecticut is a public resource that allows you to find out who is currently in custody. On the NewLondonCourt.us website, you can find publicly available information about current and recent inmates. Additionally, data is available through the official search tool of the Connecticut Department of Corrections, by phone, and during a personal visit. In Connecticut, inmate custody is managed by the state Department of Corrections (DOC), not county sheriffs, so the registry is updated centrally at the state level. A search in the registry allows you to check a person's custody status, find out the charges brought, and the date of custody.

Search Current Inmates in New London Jail

Individuals detained by the police in New London are usually transferred to the Connecticut DOC system after initial processing. The main correctional facility serving New London courts is the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in Montville.

Online Search

  1. Go to the Inmate Search page on the CT DOC website.
  2. Enter the person's full legal last name (and first name, if known).
  3. Click the search button — the system will show matches among individuals currently in DOC custody.

If you know the inmate number, it can also be used for the search. Juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public registry.

Additionally, use NewLondonCourt.us to search for court records related to the detention.

By Phone

If the online search yields no results, contact directly:

  • New London Police Department (for information on recent arrests) — call the emergency inquiry line listed on the official police website.
  • CT DOC — the Inmate Information page contains contact details for inmate inquiries.

In Person

Arrest record requests can be submitted at the Records section of the police department:

New London Police Department — Records Section
8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (business days)

Bring a valid photo ID. The staff can confirm whether a specific person is in custody or provide contact information for the relevant correctional facility.

Find New London Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created when a detained person is officially registered in the system. This document records key information about the detention.

Typical information generated during registration:

  • Booking number
  • Date and time of admission
  • Charges brought
  • Arresting agency (e.g., New London PD or Connecticut State Police)
  • Basic identification details of the person

In Connecticut, these records are stored at the state level. To access them:

  1. Online DOC Search — the Inmate Search tool shows basic information about individuals in DOC custody.
  2. Criminal Records Request — more detailed information can be obtained through the Criminal Records page, which links to state police and judicial branch resources.
  3. Police Reports — for a copy of the arrest report, contact the Records Section of the New London police or the Reports and Records of the Connecticut State Police.

Note: Some records may be restricted due to ongoing investigations or court orders prohibiting disclosure.

Search the New London Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The DOC inmate search system supports two main methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the person's last name in Latin characters. If the last name is common, add the first name to narrow the results. A few practical tips:

  • Check spelling — even one incorrect letter can prevent finding the record.
  • Try spelling variations if the last name has alternative forms (e.g., hyphenated or not).
  • The system usually does not support partial searches — enter the full last name.

Search by Inmate Number

If you have the number assigned during DOC registration, enter it in the appropriate field. This is the fastest way to find a specific person.

If No Results

The absence of records does not necessarily mean the person was not detained. Possible reasons:

  • The person has been released on bail or after serving their term.
  • The detention occurred recently, and data has not yet been entered into the system.
  • The person is held in another facility or state.
  • The record may be sealed by court order.

In such cases, contact the DOC or the New London Police Department by phone.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in New London

The DOC inmate registry is updated regularly but not in real-time. There may be a delay of several hours to a day between the actual custody of a person and the appearance of the record in the online system. Here's what to keep in mind:

  • Registration Delay. After being arrested by New London police, the person is initially processed locally and then transferred to a DOC facility. The record appears in the online search only after registration in the state system is complete.
  • Disappearance of Records After Release. The registry only displays individuals currently in custody. After release, transfer, or sentence completion, the record disappears from the public search.
  • Not an Archive. The Inmate Search tool does not store the history of all past detentions. To obtain archival data, a separate request must be submitted through the state's criminal records system.
  • Technical Errors. Sometimes data is entered with errors in the spelling of names or dates. If you are sure the person is in custody, but the search yields no results — call the facility directly.

To receive notifications about changes in an inmate's status (release, transfer), Connecticut residents can use the victim notification system, information about which is available on the Department of Corrections website.
